Getting Started
The Android version is still in development and testing and has not been officially released. The following describes the currently planned features; the actual screens, availability, and details may change, and some features are not yet enabled.
Splash Screen and First-Run Onboarding
- When you open the app, you'll first see a white "YUCTS" splash screen (up to about 2.5 seconds).
- The first time you open it, you'll see 4 onboarding pages (cherry-blossom theme, swipe left/right to change pages):
- Take off and discover travel inspiration.
- Plan trips with map visualization.
- Multi-currency expense tracking and travel journaling.
- AI assistant and the traveler community.
- Each page has a title, a subtitle, and 3 highlights; below are animated indicator dots and "Skip" and "Next / Start" buttons.
- Onboarding appears only once, on the first launch.
After launch, the app may also show:
- A maintenance banner (from the service status page, dismissible).
- An announcement popup (the most important active announcement you haven't seen yet; each one appears only once).
- A forced update prompt: when the server requires an update, it blocks content until you update (only takes effect based on the site's settings).
Guest vs. Signed In
You can use the app right away as a guest, without registering. The differences are as follows:

Actions that require signing in will automatically bring up the sign-in screen (or prompt you with "Sign in now"). For sign-in methods, see Account & Sign-In.
Appearance Mode
In settings you can choose the appearance mode:
- Automatic (follows the system)
- Light
- Dark
Changes apply instantly.
Language (Per-App Language)
The app supports a per-app language setting:
- On Android 13 or later, you can set this app's display language independently without changing the system language (via the system's per-app language setting).
- On Android 12 or older devices, the in-app language menu currently can't change the display language (it falls back to the system language); please use your phone's system language settings instead.
- It includes 8 built-in language resources: Traditional Chinese (Taiwan, default), English, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Hong Kong Traditional Chinese, and more.
Deep Links (App Links)
The app supports opening the corresponding content directly from a link:
- The custom scheme
yucts://(threads / posts / conversations / boards / authors, as well as the web-based login callback used for sign-in). - Verified
https://yucts.comandhttps://forum.yucts.comlinks (threads, boards, articles, posts) open directly in the app.
Cross-Device Sync
In settings you can enable trip sync to sync travel data across devices; turning it off keeps it stored only on the local device. See Privacy & Permissions.
