Travel Planning & Map

The Android version is still in development and testing and has not been officially released. The following describes the currently planned features; the actual screens, availability, and details may change, and some features are not yet enabled.

The landing screen of the "Travel" tab is a map; the paper-plane icon at the top right opens the AI Travel Hub (a 16-tile launcher) that gathers all the travel tools and screens.

Android Map Differences

This app uses OpenStreetMap, not Google Maps or Apple Maps; the map tiles are cached within the app. The map center is determined by a keyword lookup table and does not use the device's GPS; when adding a place, the coordinates must be entered manually, with no place search / geocoding.

Travel Map (Map Wall)​

  • Switch regions with country chips, and the embedded OpenStreetMap map focuses on the corresponding location.
  • Saved places are shown as pin markers on the map.
  • An accompanying article list below can be sorted and load more.

Saved Places​

"Saved Places":

  • You can add / delete saved places, organized into three types — Weather Tracking / Want to Go / Been To — with a mini OpenStreetMap map shown.
  • You can "Add to Trip" a saved place (this creates a waypoint).
  • The coordinates must be entered manually (no place search).
  • Tap a place to view its local weather (see Travel Tools).

Nearby Exploration​

"Nearby Exploration" queries nearby-places data from OpenStreetMap:

  • Category chips include Restaurants / Cafés / Attractions / Convenience stores / ATMs.
  • The center point comes from your saved places, defaulting to Taipei; results are sorted by straight-line distance.
Android Differences

Nearby exploration does not use the device's GPS (the app doesn't request location permission); the center point comes from your saved places or a default location.

Trip Planning​

In the Travel Hub, open "Trips":

Create / manage trips

  • The "+" FAB adds a trip: fill in a name and a cover emoji.
  • Once you enter a trip, it's the trip details hub, with a native Android date picker and links to each trip sub-feature.

Waypoints within a trip

  • The "Waypoints" screen contains an OpenStreetMap map where you can add / edit / delete waypoints, toggle their completed status, and reorder them manually.
  • A waypoint's latitude and longitude must be entered manually.

Trip Templates​

"Trip Templates" provides built-in templates; applying one automatically creates a trip and arranges waypoints by date.
