Push Notifications

Enabling notifications

  • After you finish onboarding for the first time, the app explains the purpose and asks whether to enable notifications; the system authorization dialog appears only after you tap "Enable Notifications" (it isn't forced the moment you open the app).
  • You may also be prompted to enable them again after signing in.
  • If a notification arrives while you're using the app, it's shown as an in-app banner (rather than a system banner), with duplicate pushes removed automatically.

Notification categories

After signing in and granting permission, you can manage the following 7 notification categories in your push preferences (each can be toggled independently):

  • New blog articles
  • New forum threads
  • Deals and events
  • Forum alerts (likes, quotes, mentions, etc.)
  • Forum private messages
  • Replies and mentions
  • Official announcements

In addition, when you follow a specific forum thread, board, or conversation, you'll also receive the corresponding pushes.

Notification actions

Press and hold a push (without opening the app) to act on it:

  • View: Open the corresponding content.
  • Reply: For forum thread and PM notifications, you can type and send a reply right on the notification.
  • Dismiss: Clear the notification.

Push preferences (requires signing in)

Under "Profile → Push Preferences (Subscriptions and Do Not Disturb)," you can adjust:

  • Master switch: Receive push notifications.
  • Subscription categories: New blog articles, new forum threads, deals and events, forum alerts, forum private messages, replies and mentions, and official announcements.
  • Do Not Disturb hours: Set start/end times (can span midnight) and a time zone.
  • After configuring, tap "Save Settings."

Preferences are per device; the same account can be configured differently on different devices.

Home Screen / Lock Screen Widgets

The app offers two sets of widgets:

  • Forum Unread + Latest Threads: Shows the forum unread count and the latest threads.
    • Supports Home Screen small/medium sizes, and Lock Screen circular / rectangular / inline styles.
    • Tapping the widget opens the latest thread; you can toggle whether to show the latest thread title in the widget settings.
  • Trip Countdown: Shows the departure countdown for your next trip; while a trip is in progress, it shows "Day N."
    • Supports the Home Screen small size, and Lock Screen rectangular / inline styles.

How to add: Press and hold the iOS Home Screen or Lock Screen → Add Widget → search for "YUCTS."

Lock Screen Live Activity (Trip Countdown)

For a trip with start and end dates, you can start a Live Activity from the trip menu, showing the trip countdown and information on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island (must be allowed under "Settings → Notifications → YUCTS Travel → Live Activities"). See Travel Tools.

Siri Shortcuts

The app includes the following Siri / Shortcuts commands, which you can trigger directly by voice or via the Shortcuts app:

ShortcutAction
