Travel Tools

The "All Tools" section of the Travel Hub (a notebook-style grid) gathers all the handy tools. Most of the tools below run or store data locally; some lists sync via iCloud (NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore); the few that need a network connection or location/camera permission are noted separately.

Weather

In "Places / Weather (Saved Places)," tap any place to view its local weather :

  • Current weather: temperature, feels-like temperature, humidity, wind speed, dew point, and cloud cover.
  • Hourly forecast: for about the next 12 hours, scrollable left and right, showing the temperature, weather icon, and precipitation probability (shown only when rain is expected) for each hour.
  • 5-day forecast: daily highs and lows and the weather.
  • The top right lets you switch between °C / °F, and your choice is remembered.
  • Data primarily uses Apple Weather (WeatherKit); when unavailable, it automatically falls back to a public weather data source (Open-Meteo), which is indicated on screen.

Wind speed is shown in m/s.

Phrase Cards (Common Phrases)

"Common Phrases (Phrase Cards)" provides phrases commonly used while traveling:

  • The source is fixed to Traditional Chinese, with a choice of 8 target languages: Japanese / Korean / English / Thai / Vietnamese / French / Spanish / Italian.
  • Browse by situational category (All / Greetings / Restaurant / Accommodation / Transport / Shopping / Emergency).
  • Tap the speaker to read aloud in the local voice; you can bookmark cards; the bottom lets you open the system live translation (requires an iOS version that supports the Apple Translation framework).

Converters

"Converters" includes 7 types of travel conversions:

CategoryDescription
CurrencyReal-time conversion among multiple currencies (data from the Taiwan Futures Exchange public CSV; when unavailable, built-in fallback rates are used and labeled as such)

Saved Places

"Saved Places" lets you save cities/landmarks you visit often, check the weather, or add them to a trip; see Travel Planning & Map.

Nearby Exploration

"Nearby Exploration" uses Apple Maps to search for places around your current location or a specified city, in categories including attractions / food / coffee / convenience stores / drugstores / stations, with options to open the map or bookmark in one tap. Everything is on-device with no third-party key; using your current location requires location permission.

Camera Translation

"Camera Translation" uses the camera to recognize text in real time (menus, signs, labels); tap to translate it into your language with the Apple Translation framework. Everything is on-device; unsupported devices or the simulator automatically fall back to a "manual input" mode.

Emergency Info

"Emergency Info" provides emergency phone numbers for various countries (police / ambulance / fire), our overseas missions' emergency assistance hotlines, and the global toll-free emergency assistance line for nationals abroad. It's purely built-in local data (no network, no key), and numbers can be dialed directly or copied.

Reminders

"Reminders" sets departure reminders for each trip; see Travel Planning & Map → Departure Reminders.

Custom Categories

"Custom Categories" lets you manage 4 kinds of custom items: payment categories / payment methods / shopping categories / packing categories. You can add (with emoji), edit, hide/restore, and drag to reorder, applied across expenses, shopping, and packing lists.

Companions / Settlement

"Companions" manages a trip's companions and expense split ratios; "Settlement" computes the simplest transfers in one tap. See Travel Planning & Map and Travel Records & Documents.

AI Assistant / Planning Shortcut

"All Tools" includes AI Assistant and AI Planning shortcuts, which can quickly generate trip suggestions or answer travel questions. For detailed AI assistant usage, see AI Assistant.

Lock Screen Live Activity (Trip Countdown)

For a trip with start and end dates, open it in "Trip Planning" and choose "Start Live Activity (Lock Screen Countdown)" from the menu ():

  • Shows the trip countdown, destination, weather, and status on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.
  • Tap to open the corresponding trip; you can "End" it from the menu at any time.
  • Must be allowed under iOS "Settings → Notifications → Live Activities."

Activity Wall (Travel Check-In Community)

The Activity Wall is the app's in-app travel community, where travelers check in to share the places they've been and like, comment, repost, and follow one another. Browsing doesn't require signing in (guests see blurred photos and reduced-precision locations); posting and interacting require a member sign-in.

Entry: when you use the Travel layout, the 3rd tab at the bottom, "Explore," is the Activity Wall; in other layouts you can reach it from "Travel Hub → Map Wall."

Updated

The Activity Wall has been fully redesigned: there's no longer a "Want to go / Wish Wall" — only one kind of post, the "check-in," remains; and social features such as following, reactions, comments, reposts, footprints, and achievements have been added.

Browsing the Activity Wall

  • At the very top of the screen is a collapsible mini map that marks the location of each check-in with a large red pin. Tap a place on a card and the map "flies" to the corresponding pin; tap a pin on the map and it jumps to the corresponding card or opens the details.
  • The top lets you switch between "All / Following": "Following" shows only new check-ins from travelers you follow.
  • The feed is presented as a list of cards; scrolling down loads more automatically, and pulling down refreshes.
  • The top also has a "Trip Footprints" button to view the world map of places you've visited and your achievements (see below).

Posting a Check-In

Tap the "Share your travel activity…" post bar at the top (or "+" at the top right) to post:

  • Location (required): search for a place (Apple Maps), drag the map to line it up, or "use current location" and pick from nearby attractions.
  • Notes (required): write your thoughts about this place.
  • Photo (optional): you can add one photo. If the photo contains GPS data, the location is filled in automatically (and you can still change it).
  • Who can see it: Public / Friends only / Private (Public by default). The app's Activity Wall currently shows only "Public" check-ins; "Friends only / Private" take effect only on the web version.
Photo Privacy

Before uploading a photo, the app automatically removes the photo's GPS location and device information to prevent accidentally leaking precise coordinates. The check-in's location is still based on the place you selected.

Once posted successfully, the check-in appears at the very top of the Activity Wall immediately; when eligible, the system may invite you to rate the app.

Interacting: Likes, Reactions, Comments, Reposts

Below each check-in card is a row of actions:

  • Like / React — Tap the heart to like it; press and hold to choose from 6 reactions: Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad, and Angry. (You can't like your own check-in.)
  • Comment — Open the detail page to comment and view the discussion.
  • Repost — You can "Repost to the Activity Wall" (a quote-style repost where you can add a comment; it shows "Reposted from @someone" with a small card of the original) or "Repost to the Forum" (pick a board to post it as a thread).
  • — View details, share the link.

Check-In Details

Tap a card to open the detail page, where you can:

  • Tap the large image to view it full-screen (zoom, double-tap to enlarge, swipe down to close).
  • See "N likes · M comments" and the list of reactors (who liked it).
  • View the location on the mini map, or "Open in Apple Maps."
  • From the "" menu: share the link, repost, report this check-in / block this user (on others' check-ins), or delete (on your own). After blocking, that person's check-ins and comments are no longer shown.

Personal Activity Page and Following

Tap anyone's avatar or name to open their personal activity page: a large avatar, the three numbers check-ins / followers / following, their country and city footprints, and their check-ins (switchable between grid and list), with the option to follow / unfollow.

Trip Footprints and Achievements

The "Trip Footprints" page brings together your world map:

  • Four statistics: countries · regions · cities · check-ins, plus a flag wall of the countries you've visited.
  • 9 achievement badges, unlocked when earned, with an "Achievement Unlocked" prompt when you post a check-in:
