Yucts Travel macOS App User Guide
Welcome to the macOS version of Yucts Travel — bringing travel content, trip-planning tools, the traveler community forum, and the AI assistant to your Mac desktop. This guide explains each feature and how to use it, along with the differences from the iPhone version.
The macOS version centers on a native desktop experience: a sidebar on the left replaces the iPhone's bottom tabs, and it adds menu bar commands and keyboard shortcuts, a ⌘K site-wide search panel, a standalone settings window, and desktop widgets.
Window and Sidebar
The app uses a single window with a two-column layout: a split-view sidebar on the left and content details on the right. The sidebar has 9 sections:

| Travel Tools | All travel tools in one place (trips, expenses, checklists, weather, conversion, translation phrase cards, and more). |
| Deals | Offers and event information from the blog and the forum's marketing sections. |
| Forum | The traveler community: boards, threads, posting and plain-text replies, and liking the first post (desktop interaction features are still being expanded). |
| Chat | Private message conversations (sign-in required). |
| Authors | An introduction to our authors and their personal pages. |
| AI Assistant | Travel Q&A, streaming replies, and on-site sources. |
The window remembers the section you were last in and returns to it the next time you open the app.
The macOS version intentionally uses a single window for now (you can't open multiple windows at once; opening it again brings the existing window to the front). Multi-window / tabbed windows are a planned feature.
Menu Bar Commands and Keyboard Shortcuts
The desktop version adds menu bar commands and shortcuts that the iPhone doesn't have:

Cross-Section Features
- ⌘K site-wide search — A floating search panel that finds on-site articles and forum content; click a result to open it in your browser. See Home & Content Browsing.
- Bookmarks and reading history — Articles can be bookmarked, and reading history is recorded; both are gathered in the "Library" view.
- Settings window (⌘,) — Appearance, iCloud, Account, Plus, Cache, and About, organized across four tabs. See Account & Sign-In and Privacy & Permissions.
- AI Travel Assistant — Streaming Q&A that can reference on-site articles and forum sources. See AI Assistant & Translation.
- iCloud sync — Shares the same container as iOS, syncing travel data such as trips, packing, and orders across devices (enabled after you sign in and complete account setup).
- Desktop widgets and Dock badge — Desktop widgets show unread counts and trip countdowns, and the Dock icon shows the unread count. See Notifications & Widgets.
Getting Started
- You can browse most content as a guest without registering; forum interaction, chat, adding pins on the Map Wall, photo uploads, AI conversation history, and similar features require signing in.
- Sign-in methods include username and password, Sign in with Apple, two-step verification, registration, and forgot password.

This macOS version requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. Some features (such as desktop AI and push notifications) depend on platform capabilities and on whether the backend has been enabled; see each chapter for details.
