FAQ & macOS Differences
Which system version does the macOS app require?
It requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later.
What can guests (without signing in) do?
You can browse Home articles, Deals, the forum (read-only), Authors, the map, and travel tools (local data), and use AI Q&A anonymously. Posting / replying / reacting, chat, adding pins on the Map Wall, photo uploads, and AI conversation history require signing in.
How do I sign in?
Press ⌘, (or the gear at the bottom of the sidebar) to open the settings window, then sign in on the "Account" tab. It supports username and password, Sign in with Apple, two-step verification, registration, and forgot password. See Account & Sign-In.
What keyboard shortcuts does the macOS version have?
⌘R to refresh, ⌘K to search, ⌘1–⌘9 to switch sidebar sections, ⌘, to open Settings, and Esc to close the search panel. See Menu Bar & Keyboard Shortcuts.
How do I search on-site content?
Press ⌘K to open the search panel, enter a keyword, and press Enter to search articles and the forum. Results currently open external links in your browser. See Home & Content Browsing.
How do I clear the cache / free up space?
Go to "Settings (⌘,) → Cache", where you can view the local storage breakdown, set an image cache limit, and "Clear All Cache".
Why do some travel tools have no data?
Most travel tools have data only after you sign in and complete iCloud sync; the items you can create on the desktop are limited, and journals, expenses, and document files on the Mac are mostly read-only views (creation and photo editing are currently done on iOS). See Travel Records & Documents.
Why am I not receiving push notifications?
Cloud push delivery (fanout) for macOS is currently a server-side to-do, and until the backend is complete you may not receive cloud push. Local departure reminders, however, work normally. See Notifications & Widgets.
Why can't I add an Apple Wallet pass?
Server-side issuance of passes requires the backend to be enabled; before the backend is enabled, you'll see a "Wallet not set up" message, which is normal. See Travel Records & Documents.
Why can't I see the Yucts Plus plans?
Plans only appear after they're configured in the App Store; before they're configured, not being able to fetch them is normal and is not an error. See Yucts Plus Subscription.
Does the macOS version have translation features?
It has built-in phrase cards (5 languages × 4 situations, with romanization and read-aloud), but no camera translation or real-time free translation. See AI Assistant & Translation.
What are the main differences between the macOS and iPhone versions?
| Item | macOS |
|---|---|
| Navigation | A sidebar on the left (9 sections) replaces the bottom tabs, plus menu bar commands and ⌘ shortcuts |
| Layout | Travel, Forum, Chat, and AI use two- / three-column desktop layouts |
| Choosing photos | Uses the macOS file picker (not the photo picker) |
| Content rendering | Articles / forum / user guide are rendered natively (not embedded web pages) |
| Notifications | Dock badge + desktop widgets; no Lock Screen Live Activities |
| Windows | Currently a single window, with no multi-window / tabs yet |
| Translation | Built-in phrase cards; no camera translation |
| On-device AI | The desktop always uses the cloud (on-device AI requires macOS 26) |
How do I check the system status or read the user guide?
Go to "Settings (⌘,) → About", where you can open the "User guide" (docs.yucts.com) and "System status" (status.yucts.com).
