Appearance and Reading Experience
YucDu is grounded in Japanese-inspired aesthetics, while putting control over appearance back in your hands. Every setting lives in Settings → Appearance and applies instantly, so you can see changes as you make them.
Appearance Mode (Light / Dark)
Under Appearance Mode, choose:
- Light — A warm, washi-like off-white background.
- Dark — A calm dark background that's more comfortable for reading at night.
- Automatic — Follows your system's light/dark setting (the default).
Accent Color
YucDu offers six Japanese-inspired tones as accent colors, applied to buttons, tags, links, and highlights. Choose yours in Settings → Appearance → Accent Color:
| Accent Color | Feel |
|---|---|
| Vermilion (default) | The warm, traditional red of a Japanese seal. |
| Navy | Steady and deep. |
| Ink Black | Minimal and elegant, like sumi ink. |
| Matcha | Natural and fresh matcha green. |
| Sakura | Soft, romantic cherry-blossom pink. |
| Golden Tea | Warm and refined golden tea. |
Display Style
Under Display Style, switch between the three Home looks (see Home and Reading Articles):
- C Modern Card (default) — Rounded cards with gradient covers, modern and fresh.
- B Magazine — Big Mincho headings and vermilion numbers, in a magazine layout.
- A Minimal — Thin dividers, no images, and even spacing, for maximum focus.
Text Size
Under Text Size, adjust the body text across three levels — S Small, M Medium, and L Large (Medium by default). You can also tap Aa in the top-right corner while reading an article for the same quick adjustment.
Japanese Mincho Typography
YucDu uses a Mincho typeface for headings (where your device supports it), paired with clear system fonts for body text and the interface, and a monospaced font for numbers and dates — creating a quiet, easy-to-read atmosphere. These details automatically harmonize with the accent color and light/dark mode you choose.
All your appearance preferences (light/dark, accent color, layout, and text size) are saved locally on your device and reapplied automatically the next time you open the app.
