Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do I need to sign up or log in to use YucDu?

No. YucDu is a read-only reader — just open it to browse every article, save favorites, search, and read offline, with no account needed at all.

How do I save an article?

Tap the heart on any article card or reading page to save it, then find all your saved articles in the Favorites tab. As long as your devices are signed in to the same iCloud, your favorites sync between your iPhone and iPad. See Favorites and Offline Reading for more.

Can I read articles without a connection?

Yes. Articles you've read are saved as offline versions automatically, so you can reopen them later even without a connection. View and manage them in Settings → Offline Reading.

How do I switch languages?

The app language follows your device automatically. To change it, go to Settings → Appearance → Language; tapping it opens iOS Settings, where you can set a language just for YucDu. Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English, and Vietnamese are supported.

How do I switch to dark mode or change the accent color?

Go to Settings → Appearance, where you can switch between Light / Dark / Automatic, choose one of six accent colors, and adjust the reading layout and text size. See Appearance and Reading Experience for more.

What's the difference between the three Home layouts?

  • C Modern Card (default): Rounded cards with cover images.
  • B Magazine: Large numbers and big Mincho headings.
  • A Minimal: Text only, thin dividers, for maximum focus.

Switch between them in Settings → Appearance → Display Style.

How do I change the text size while reading?

While reading an article, tap Aa in the top-right corner, or go to Settings → Appearance → Text Size, where you can choose Small, Medium, or Large.

Why am I not getting notifications for new articles?

Please check:

  1. That you allowed notifications on first launch, or turn them on in iOS under Settings → Notifications → YucDu.
  2. That Do Not Disturb or a Focus mode isn't blocking notifications on your device.

See Notifications for more.

Does YucDu have ads or in-app purchases?

No. YucDu has no ads, does no tracking, and has no in-app purchases or subscriptions — all features are free to use.

Are my favorites and reading history safe?

Your favorites are stored in your own private iCloud database, which we can't read; your reading progress, recently read, and search history are kept only on your device. See Privacy and Permissions for more.

How do I check whether the service is running normally?

Go to Settings → Service → Service Status to see YucDu's current status, uptime, and incident log. See Service Status and Legal Documents for more.

Where can I find the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service?

Go to Settings → Legal to read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service right in the app; you can also open the full legal section in your browser.
